Tooth extractions are carried out in the surgery under local anaesthetic. Topical anaesthetic is first applied to numb the gum, then local anaesthetic (just numbs area we need) is administered. All risks associated with extractions are explained to the patient first and any other treatment options, (e.g. root canal treatment) are explored before extraction is decided upon as the definitive treatment. We don't like losing teeth!
